Doors!

Doors!
Doors lead us inside.
Inside a house, church, store,
school, library, hospital, office,
cafe, and so on.
When we enter through a door we are leaving
one space and transitioning into a
new space.
A door can either
welcome one or shun one.
A door is the barrier between
the outside and the inside.
Here are a few doors I have photographed.

Old door to an old house in Pennsylvania.
Love the ivy and love the moss on the steps!
How many families have entered through these doors?
Church doors in Breckenridge, Colorado.
It is cold outside but the doors are calling people in!
Old Church doors in Pennsylvania.
100 year old doors!
Beautiful old wood Church doors
in New York City.
These heavy doors keep the noise
from the streets out!
It is like a fortress to a castle.
A safe haven inside from the big, loud city.
Old country store doors in Pine, Colorado.
I love this store!  It reminds me a
so many Texas country
stores from my childhood.
Coke in a bottle and some Wrigley's chewing
gum would be a purchase I would make
from this store!
Old but fancy doors to a bookstore
in The Big Apple!
Very proper and very red!
Love it! It calls you to come inside!
Fancy Store Doors!
Lots of glitter and shiny objects await those
who enter through these
sophisticated doors!
They even have a doorman to greet
you or boot you out!
Yet another fancy prancy store!

What about your door?  Is it
fancy, cozy, stuffy,
red, black, big or small?
Whatever kind it is make sure that
it welcomes those who enter through it!

Mama's Sick Chicken Recipe!

Okay....So here is the story behind the
"Sick Chicken" recipe!
This easy and yummy casserole became popular in our family
because my mom would deliver this to our house if we were
sick or had just had a baby or just sick and tired of cooking!
So my nephew named the dish
"Sick Chicken"
So in his mind, when one was
sick this chicken dish
would arrive at your house.
This name was given before
"Sick" meant GOOD or COOL!
We all love  Sick Chicken!
It is not SICK! (Bad) It is SICK! (Good)
It taste delicious!
So today I will share with you the recipe for this SICK dish!~

Simple ingredients.....
1 can of broth
1 can of cream of celery soup
Cooked and diced chicken ( about 4-5 breasts)
1 box of stuffing
Put chicken in the bottom of a
casserole dish.
In a small bowl, dilute the cream of celery soup
with 1 cup of chicken broth.
Spread the evenly over chicken.

Cook the stuffing according to the instructions on the box.
Spread stuffing on top of soup.
Bake at 350 degrees for about 30 minutes or
until it is good and bubbly!
This is such an easy and delicious meal!
I always serve with
coleslaw, green beans and cranberries!
It is like Turkey Day all over again,
only much easier!
So there you go!
"Sick Chicken" ROCKS!

Cheater Tip! If you are in a hurry just pick up a rotisserie
chicken from the grocery store, debone and cut it up
instead of cooking chicken breasts!

Mama Is A Dipper!

I love a good dip!  I will gladly pass on any dessert to be a participant in a good
dip and chip session!
So I am the queen mama of dips!
Here is one of my favorite and easy dips!
Great for pre Turkey Day festivities!
Baked Potato Dip
1 16oz sour cream
1 cup shredded cheddar cheese
6 slices of bacon cooked and crumbled
3 green chives diced
sea salt and crushed black pepper to taste

Mix all ingredients and chill before serving!
Remember the key to serving holiday dips is to have an adult dip and a kid dip!  The kids are still in training on the proper way to dip!  Hopefully most of the adults know not to "double dip"!
I hate double dippers!  It just ruins the whole dipping experience!
And "triple dippers" are just gross!
Get a plate already!

Strange Thanksgiving Rituals Of The Victorian Era!

In the Victorian Era it seems that it was a
popular ritual to send the young children
all dressed up to go out and play with the
turkeys they were to eat at Thanksgiving!

This one was told to feed the turkey!
We want him good and fat for Thanksgiving!
She does not realize her pet
will soon be served up on a platter!
Therapy will be needed as an adult.

This Baby Mama likes to
dress her pet turkey up!
They play together until...........!!
Therapy for this one as well!

Now these babies have a smart mama!
They have coats on and they are
safe behind the fence!
We like this mama!

Notice her hands in her pocket!
Smart Baby Mama she does not want
to loose her fingers
She is having a nice talk with her turkey.
They are good friends until.........!
Therapy!

Let's take a picture of our Turkey!
So we can remember him!

This family opts for chicken
instead of turkey. They realize they
can get some eggs out of them
 before the Thanksgiving meal!
Smart family!
This Baby Mama was sent out to
whip the chickens into laying eggs!
She has also figured out that if she screams
her socks fall down and the
chickens feel sorry for her
and lay more eggs!
She is young but has already learned
to use her mama tricks!

After playing with the turkeys
some children had to
gather pumpkins for Mama's pumpkin pie!
Hard work!

Turkey and pumpkin duty!
No child labor laws back in those days!

So when your children or grandchildren are
whining about cleaning the
Thanksgiving dishes,
tell them it could be much worse!
Happy Turkey Day!
