Rocky Mountain High - Aspen In The Summer

When we arrive at the tunnel we know we are about 1.5 hours away

from our destination. One of our favorite places on earth is Aspen in the summer.

As a family we gather and hike, bike and enjoy the beautiful flowers and the scenery.

Life is pretty simple in Aspen. There is plenty of time to just be present in nature and

take in all of God's handiwork. The lupine's pepper the John Denver Sanctuary Park

while the poppy's appear throughout the town in bold orange and red colors.

The streams and creeks are full from the snow melt and the bears

stroll the downtown aside brave locals.  It is a magical place

where we find solace and celebration. How blessed we are. 

Is Spring Here?

It is COMING!

Or at least they say it is.

SPRING!

We go from this……...

To THIS!!

SNOW!!

Yes we do need patience!

But is is so very hard to wait!

I Want MORE of these BEAUTIES!

And fill my vase up with these little DARLINGS!

He is a BUSY BEE!  ;)

Mama is Getting Pretty Tired of the COLD!

It is always about this time of year that I start yearning for 

COLOR!

I WANT IT

I REALLY WANT IT

I want to step out on my patio and see

FLOWERS!

PRETTY FLOWERS!

Mama will just have to be patient

as it is going to be a little while before that happens.

SIGH…..

I can just sit and stare at Baby Girl #1's

latest oil painting!

It has COLOR!

I miss watching her paint in the kitchen.

Just another thing I have to be patient about.

Mama Needs COLOR!

So it goes like this.....

As soon as March rolls around

Mama starts getting restless for

COLOR!

You see we live in beautiful

Colorado.

Don't get me wrong, it is beautiful!

But

(There's always a but)

and

(Sometimes a butt)

BUT

We won't go there!

Sorry...got off track.

So we all agree that Colorado is beautiful

BUT

Sometimes a Mama from Texas

 just needs a little 

COLOR in March!

So I changed the blog background,

bought some bulbs to plant,

 asked daughter #2

to make some perky baked goods, 

 asked daughter #1 to paint a colorful painting,

 then bought some flowers!

I think that will hold me over

for a little while!

Sending you some 

COLOR!

My favorite part of the Garden 

was this enormous display

of annuals!  It was a wall of the

most gorgeous flowers I have ever seen!

The wall was 7 feet tall and at least 100 feet in length!

It went on forever!

Can't you just picture a beautiful bride

walking this path to meet her groom!

SIGH!!!
